Hi, I'm Bryan 👋

Cloud SysAdmin and SRE. I like infrastructure that runs itself, teams that do less manual work, and leaving every system a little more secure than I found it.

I'm an Informatics Engineer from the University of Guadalajara, with 4+ years running production infrastructure.

Today: SysAdmin & SRE at Oracle Cloud (OCI)

  • With my team I run a fleet of ~15,000 bare-metal servers and hypervisors across multiple regions.
  • Patching and upgrades with zero unplanned downtime, with health checks before and after every change.
  • Automation that cuts manual effort: 70% of a ticket category resolves itself and each ticket takes 45–55% less time.
  • Standardized runbooks: ~60% fewer escalations.
  • On-call and major-incident response; building an AI-driven ops agent in Python.
  • DevSecOps mindset: least privilege, credential hygiene and vulnerability remediation.

Before: Flex

I maintained 500+ Windows and Unix servers for manufacturing, with 85–90% patch compliance. That's where I learned that reliable patching and good documentation are worth as much as any tool.

HackCore

My lab and content brand. This site runs on a Raspberry Pi 4 at home, and it's where I share what I learn: clear for people starting out in IT, with technical depth for experienced folks.

What I'm working on

Preparing for CCSK

The Cloud Security Alliance's cloud security certificate. Target exam date: October 2026.

AI ops agent

Autonomous triage and resolution of high-volume tickets, with precision/recall controls and human validation.

Freelance cloud work

Cloud infrastructure and migration projects. Right now: the platform that tracks ~3,500 slot machines for a casino.

Principles I live by

Automate the repetitive

If I do it three times, it deserves a script. If the team does it daily, it deserves a tool.

Document for your 3 a.m. self

Standardizing runbooks cut escalations by ~60%. A good guide beats an on-call hero.

Secure by design

Least privilege, secrets handled properly, and nothing exposed to the internet that doesn't need to be.

Changes with a safety net

Pre/post health checks, canary releases and a rollback ready. That's how you patch with zero unplanned downtime.

Sharing is part of the job

I believe security starts at home and that technical knowledge is most useful when it's explained well.

Talk for parents

I shared cybersecurity culture with parents of high-school students and gave them tools to protect their families.
